P for Peek a boo

DSC_1887

Photographed and birded by Nigam. There is a whole series of pictures where this Brahminy Starling couple settled in this nest, they give him lovely poses everyday. He put up this box nest at the neem near his house. My nest is still uninhabited šŸ˜¦

For all those bird photography enthusiasts one sure and best way to get birds around your house are Nests that are high up far from all predators and second most important thing that you could have around your house is a Water bowl especially now that summer commences and maybe a bird feeder or regular spraying of grains somewhere… šŸ™‚

Trust me they poses that they give you will be worth every ounce of grain you spend behind them, unlike us humans, these birds are not at all ungrateful. šŸ™‚ šŸ™‚ šŸ™‚

  1. That is just the most awesome pic I have seen…I keep gazing back at it in disbelief. It looks like a carving out of wood, blending into its abode. Now, the perfection makes me do a double take…to perfect to be real! šŸ™‚ Thank you so so much for the share:)

  2. That is a fabulous shot! Was not aware that birds live in nests made by humans too… or is that they just explore it and leave!
Water and food for birds is a cool idea and should be implemented by all.

    • They do if they feel secure about it… there is a very small hole in the nest… so no cats cant attack it… and that I think sealed the deal for this couple… thats what we concluded.. šŸ˜€

  3. Very nice picture….reminds me of a bird house we had in my mom’s place when we were teenagers. There was a family of birds who used to settle there every spring šŸ™‚

  4. Fantastic pic ! That is one great idea you have put forth , wonder about its feasibility around my apartment..:0.Worth giving it a shot though šŸ™‚

  5. I am simply in love with this picture. Wow what a pose the elegant bird gave. šŸ™‚

We have also put up a nest in our balcony with a bowl of water and grains. Some time back it used to be full of sparrows but now sparrows are no where to be seen the nest is all barren and empty. šŸ˜¦

I miss sparrows a lot. Now we have few pigeons residing happily over an old almirah kept in a corner of balcony.

  6. It is very difficult to believe that the bird is real! Our new apartment is getting ready and I am going to show this bird house to my carpenter. He can make some boxes like this out of the remaining wooden peaces. The area has got many trees but I am guilty of going to an apartment which was built in a place where many trees were there earlier. The next compound is full of trees. Planning to keep bird bath and I am already feeding them with curd rice and grains here and will continue it there! It is like ‘paapa parihaara’!

  7. I love watching the birds ever since we put up a bird feeder. But how cool for this “couple” to make their home in yours! Smart birds.
